C1 is the first AI-native identity security platform that protects every identity: human, non-human, and AI. With powerful automation, platform-level AI, and out-of-the-box connectors, it centralizes access visibility, enforces fine-grained controls, enables just-in-time access, and automates user access reviews across all apps. It’s easy to use, quick to deploy, and trusted by enterprises like DigitalOcean, Instacart, Ramp, and Zscaler.
As a Forward Deployed Engineer at C1 you’ll embed with customers and with our product teams to build the integrations, automation, and bespoke workflows that make identity infrastructure reliable, safe, and delightfully simple to operate. You’ll split your time between customer sites (remotely or onsite), product engineering, and customer-facing problem solving — shipping production-safe software, running connector deployments, and turning customer needs into scalable product features.

You’ll be the technical bridge between product, engineering, and customers: designing and implementing connectors, automating identity workflows, and helping customers adopt best-practice identity controls. Expect variety — one week you’re writing a Baton connector to a legacy HR system, the next you’re collaborating with an internal team to add needed product functionality, and the next you’re building custom workflows atop the C1 platform.

What you'll do:
  • Embed with customers and internal teams to design and deliver integrations, automation, and identity workflows that make complex infrastructure simple and secure.

  • Split your time between customer-facing problem solving, product engineering, and building production-grade software.

  • Design, implement, test, and operate connectors, APIs, and provisioning flows that integrate C1 with external systems.

  • Rapidly prototype and productionize custom workflows and product features, always keeping scalability and reusability in mind.

  • Diagnose and resolve complex sync, provisioning, and identity lifecycle issues across standards such as SCIM, SAML, OAuth, LDAP, and cloud IAM platforms.

  • Act as a trusted technical advisor — leading workshops, presenting proposals, and guiding customers on best-practice identity architecture.

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering to translate customer needs into productized solutions and influence the roadmap.

  • Mentor and partner with other engineers to ensure deployed solutions are reliable, observable, and maintainable.

  • Occasionally travel to meet with customers.

You would be an excellent candidate if…
  • You’ve built integrations focused on user management.

  • You’ve worked in customer-facing engineering roles such as professional services, solutions engineering, or forward deployed engineering.

  • You have experience with identity and access management systems such as Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, or Active Directory.

  • You’ve shipped production Go services or backend libraries.

  • You’re comfortable with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP) and observability tools (DataDog/Prometheus).

  • You’ve helped design or support customer onboarding and deployment processes for SaaS or platform products.

Extra Credit if…
  • You’ve built complex, data-rich web applications or admin consoles for SaaS products.

  • You have experience with gRPC or similar API technologies.

  • You’ve worked with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP), CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling.

  • You have experience with identity systems, authentication flows, or access management concepts.

  • You’ve contributed to design systems or component libraries shared across multiple products.

  • You’ve operated in a high-growth startup environment and enjoy shaping teams as much as product.
