POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Accountant is responsible for supporting certain aspects of the financial accounting, internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting for the company. This role also provides operations exposure with the preparation of claim and technical bookings. Responsible for supporting projects to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of reporting requirements in an increasingly complex environment. The role may have close interaction across multiple functional areas of the business and work with the wider Finance Team to add value across relevant business areas. The role provides opportunities to develop specific skillsets and to progress within a dynamic team.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Financial Accounting
Manage and monitor the non-technical balances across all entities in Singapore
Complete aspects of the monthly and quarterly close processes
Prepare monthly/quarterly GL entries
Assist with annual GAAP and Statutory (MAS) financial statements
Liaise with internal and external auditors and vendors
Support the preparation of detailed analysis, journal entry bookings and monthly/quarterly reconciliations to the general ledger
Prepare GST Returns
Support the continued enhancement and on-going development of various financial systems
Reinsurance Accounting
Assist with the monthly and quarterly close S.O.X process
Assist with maintaining an appropriate S.O.X 404 control environment for both the reinsurance accounting systems and the general ledger
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
A university degree is essential with emphasis on finance and accounting
Professional accounting designation preferable (e.g. CA, ACA, CPA)
A minimum of 2 years of Big Four external audit experience or equivalent and 2 years’ post-qualification experience. Experience working with general insurance organisations, as an auditor or internal accountant, is preferred
Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and an understanding of GAAP for reinsurance transactions
Experience with public companies and SOX 404 is advantageous
Proficiency in the use of computer systems and applications (Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
Experience with Microsoft D365 and SICS reinsurance accounting systems is preferred
Strong analytical and communication skills to garner immediate credibility both inside and outside the organization
Demonstration of a sound and reliable work ethic; outstanding problem-solving skills; proven organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a timely and accurate manner
