This is a remote position.

The Finance Officer will play a crucial role in managing the financial health and stability of our organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Officer will be responsible for executing a variety of financial tasks with precision and efficiency. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.


Working Hours

The company's operating hours are Monday - Thursday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM and Fridays 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Tasks are expected to be completed within and outside these hours as needed, as the company prioritizes a project and task-based approach.


Daily Responsibilities
  • Process and record financial transactions in an accurate and timely manner (Accounts Payable and Receivable)

  • Reconcile bank statements and bank accounts to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

  • Maintain and update Audit Schedules, ensuring proper documentation and organization for audit purposes.

  • Process and record vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.

  • Prepare and issue invoices to customers, track payments and follow up on outstanding balances.

  • Provide support for various accounting, clerical and administrative tasks as needed.

  • Assist with the preparation of tax returns (GCT, SO1)

  • Enter financial data into accounting software or spreadsheets accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Assign appropriate coding to transactions and expenses to ensure proper allocation and tracking.

  • Review employee expense reports, verifying supporting documentation and compliance with company policies.

  • Process and record expense reimbursements, ensuring proper approval and documentation.

  • Reconcile bank statements with general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies.

  • Perform regular reconciliations of other accounts, such as credit cards

  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements



Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field. Project Management certification is not required but would be beneficial.

  2. 3-5 years progressive experience in accounting.

  3. Relevant certification (e.g. ACCA or CPA) is required.

  4. Experience working in the SME's or marketing industry would be an asset.
