Energy Trading and Operations Intern

The Company supports a group of businesses operating in the technology and energy trading sectors, providing shared services and operational support across the group.

This role is part of EnterpriseSG's Commodities Structured Internship Programme, which will offer a comprehensive introduction to the dynamic world of commodity businesses, equipping students with a solid foundation for a promising career. In addition to the internship in a high-growth company, students will enjoy monthly seminars covering crucial industry topics and curated networking opportunities.

This internship offers hands-on exposure to the full bunker trading lifecycle within a dynamic energy and commodities trading environment.

Interns will rotate monthly through Supply Trading, Purchase Trading, and Trade Operations, while actively supporting market research and data analysis initiatives that drive trading decisions, pricing strategies, and operational efficiency.

The programme is structured to develop commercial awareness, analytical capability, and operational discipline, combining real-time trading support with structured analytical work.

Trade Operations

Focus: Post-trade execution, operational analytics and process optimisation

Key Responsibilities:
• Support Trade Operations in post-fixture processes and documentation workflows
• Analyse delivery performance data, discrepancies, and operational exceptions
• Assist in building basic dashboards or trackers for operational reporting
• Support reconciliation processes through structured data review and validation
• Identify trends and improvement opportunities using operational data
• Track KPIs such as delivery timelines, claims, and documentation turnaround times

Purchase Trading Desk

Focus: Customer demand analysis, deal flow, and commercial insights

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist Purchase Traders in handling customer enquiries and preparing quotations
• Analyse customer demand patterns, enquiry volumes and conversion rates
• Support preparation and maintenance of enquiry and deal data within the ERP system
• Conduct margin analysis and basic profitability tracking across trades
• Support coordination between supply and purchase desks using data-backed insights
• Prepare monthly reports on customer trends, regional demand, and pricing behavior

Supply Trading Desk

Focus: Supplier markets, pricing intelligence and supply-side analysis

Key Responsibilities:

•Support Supply Traders in managing supplier coverag eacross ports and regions
•Conduct market research on bunker prices, port trends and supplier competitiveness
•Collect, clean, and analyse daily price indications and historical pricing data
•Assist in maintaining supplier databases, port coverage maps, and pricing models
•Track supplier performance metrics such as reliability, pricing spreads, and delivery timelines
•Prepare weekly market snapshots and data-driven insights for internal circulation
