Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
We are seeking a detail-oriented PCB Layout Engineer to design and develop high-quality printed circuit board (PCB) layouts for complex electronic systems. This role will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and layout multi-layer, high-density PCB boards, including component placement and signal routing
- Translate schematics into manufacturable PCB designs with strong focus on signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal performance
- Define stack-ups, impedance control, and routing constraints for high-speed designs (e.g., DDR, PCIe, SERDES)
- Generate complete PCB fabrication and assembly packages (Gerber, ODB++, drawings, BOM)
- Perform design rule checks (DRC), validation, and troubleshooting of PCB layouts
- Collaborate with electrical engineers to understand design requirements and system constraints
- Work with manufacturers and suppliers to ensure DFM/DFA compliance and successful production builds
- Support prototype bring-up, debugging, and layout optimization for cost, performance, and yield
- Maintain design documentation, libraries, and revision control
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field
3–8+ years of experience in PCB layout/design (level dependent)
Strong proficiency in PCB design tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer, Mentor, or Zuken)
Solid understanding of:
- High-speed digital design
- Signal integrity (SI) / power integrity (PI)
- EMC/EMI mitigation techniques
Experience with multi-layer, high-density boards and modern fabrication processes
Familiarity wit
PCB layout and routing expertise
CAD/EDA proficiency
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Cross-functional collaboration (EE, ME, manufacturing)
Attention to detail and documentation discipline
Experience with complex systems (industrial, semiconductor tools, automotive, or high-reliability electronics)
Knowledge of DFM/DFT best practices and cost optimization strategies
Experience with board bring-up, validation, and failure analysis
IPC CID certification or equivalent
