About the Business Unit
The APAC Marketing team at BlackRock sets the strategic direction to help drive commercial growth by designing and executing high-impact, multi-channel and data-driven marketing strategies that ensure BlackRock’s offerings resonate with clients and prospective clients. It is the responsibility of this team to raise brand awareness and drive preference of our investment capabilities, including analysing the return on investment to inform and evolve future activities.
About the Role
Blackrock is seeking a motivated individual to join the APAC Marketing team in Singapore. The individual will lead the Southeast Asia client marketing team and drive brand awareness and preference for BlackRock amongst our wealth, institutional clients in Southeast Asia and with end investors in Singapore.
This role is a leadership role within the Asia-ex-Japan marketing team and reports to the Head of Asia-ex-Japan Marketing. The ideal candidate will be a highly strategic marketer and collaborative individual to help drive partner connectivity and represent BlackRock’s comprehensive investment offering (from funds to ETFs) to help elevate the BlackRock brand and deliver value to our strategic partners.
The individual will work closely with the local and regional marketing teams, Southeast Asia client business and regional product teams to set the strategic marketing direction and implement initiatives to support our commercial goals and strategic priorities. This individual is expected to consistently review marketing campaign and event performance to measure commercial impact to refine and improve future marketing initiatives.
Overview of Responsibility:
- Design and drive strategic marketing plans that drive our Wealth and Institutional business in Southeast Asia to meet BlackRock’s business objectives.
- Collaborate closely with regional marketing teams (digital, events, content, business manager etc.) and partner with investment teams, product strategists, client business teams, APAC Corporate Communications and Compliance to implement marketing solutions.
- Develop and drive the content and digital strategy for the BlackRock Singapore website and LinkedIn channel, including all related digital marketing activities that drive traffic to these channels.
- Partner closely with the APAC digital marketing team to understand and use metrics to analyse content effectiveness and success, use data and insights to actively adjust approach as necessary to enhance impact.
- Lead, review and approve the existing suite of fund marketing materials and marketing materials for Southeast Asia. This includes developing new product marketing materials for fund launches and representing marketing in new business projects and strategic partnerships.
- Partner with regional marketers on strategic marketing campaigns and events. You will help drive and shape the campaign’s content messaging and strategy, campaign materials, and activation strategies to the intended target audience in Southeast Asia.
- Lead all BlackRock client events (in-person and virtual) in Southeast Asia to showcase BlackRock’s thought leadership across our platform and investment capabilities.
- Be the brand ambassador to drive marketing strategy and brand awareness, raise familiarity and preference with our clients.
- Own the client marketing budget for Southeast Asia. Proficient in forecasting and expense management to submit accurate forecasts and actual marketing spend for Southeast Asia in a timely manner.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with Marketing colleagues and client business teams across geographies and channels to ensure our content is delivered effectively.
- Ensure all marketing initiatives are compliant and implemented within BlackRock brand guidelines, controls and processes; ensuring risks are identified and resolved.
- Lead, mentor and develop the careers of a highly motivated and talented marketing team as they execute on marketing plans to drive commercial outcomes.
- Manage key stakeholders and marketing campaigns simultaneously across multiple functions with the ability to move project forwards in a complex environment.
Experience/Qualifications/Skills
- 15+ years of experience with proven experience working in financial services, preferably in asset management, banking or wealth management.
- Strong commercial awareness, client acumen and intellectual curiosity. You understand the investment management industry including investment products, client segments and the competitor landscape.
- Excellent communication skills in English and ideally Mandarin (optional) – both written and verbal is required. You write, edit, and proofread copy so that it is engaging and compelling.
- Strategic operator. You provide well thought-out solutions with the ability to articulate strategy and plans to all levels across the firm.
- Proven track record in external agencies and vendors including advertising and paid media agency relationships to deliver successful marketing campaigns that meet the business objectives.
- Highly adept and experienced in managing a marketing budget, with the ability to deliver maximum impact and value in campaigns and marketing activations to build a brand and lift awareness.
- Creative connector. You can deliver messages in an innovative and engaging manner, and you are able to maintain creativity and positively adapt to unexpected challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Game changer. You are comfortable with using data insights and past marketing experience to challenge the status quo.
- Excellent problem solver. You possess strong critical thinking, quantitative and analytical skills.
- Adept at influencing senior stakeholders and peers without explicit authority and working effectively across numerous teams in a large organization both collaboratively and autonomously.
- Driven, organized and self-motivated individual. You are upbeat, meticulous, committed to excellence and have superb time management and prioritization skills.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to move multiple projects forward simultaneously amidst ambiguity, effectively integrating input while maintaining project schedules.
- Collaborate credibly across the firm locally, regionally and globally to connect the dots and identify areas for leverage and synergies beyond day-to-day job scope.
- Experienced people manager. You are passionate about developing and raising talent.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to partner with multiple and determined stakeholders and build positive relationships across the firm within and beyond marketing to grow the business.
