Purpose of the role
The role is responsible for building out MUFG’s Fund Finance (Subscription Finance and NAV) product presence and capabilities in Singapore. The position will contribute to the revenue target and financial success of the Fund Finance APAC business.
Job Responsibilities:
Based in Singapore, responsibilities will include:
Development (in partnership with Managing Director, Head of Fund Finance, Asia Pacific) and execution of a robust product business plan for the expansion of the Fund Finance business in Singapore.
Achieve revenue and return targets for the Fund Finance business in Singapore, while displaying MUFG culture principles
Lead client engagement on Fund Finance matters, and leverage MUFG relationships and own relationships/contacts to originate opportunities in the market and secure mandates for Fund Finance transactions.
Lead negotiations (inc. term sheet preparation and agreement), structuring, and execution of Fund Finance transactions, including being responsible for preparation and submission of credit approvals.
Enhance Fund Finance client experience and outcomes (for existing and new clients).
Build, in cooperation and coordination with relationship managers, new customer relationships that lead to further expansion of the Fund Finance business and growth of portfolio.
Provide input into and seek and lead (as appropriate) Fund Finance product development within MUFG risk tolerance levels.
Mentor/coach/develop junior Fund Finance APAC team members.
Proactively risk and portfolio manage existing transactions and contribute to Fund Finance APAC reporting processes.
Proactively engage in, contribute to and lead (as appropriate) Fund Finance APAC team initiatives and activities.
Actively participate in and support MUFG origination and distribution activities, and seek/identify cross sell opportunities for MUFG products.
Development (in partnership with Managing Director, Head of Fund Finance, Asia Pacific) and execution of a robust product business plan for the expansion of the Fund Finance business in Singapore, with accountability for financial, credit and portfolio performance within the Singapore fund finance portfolio
Contribute to the achievement of AIBD-FF’s Fund Finance APAC budget by originating, negotiating, structuring and executing new fund finance transactions in Singapore
Lead client engagement on Fund Finance matters, and leverage MUFG relationships (in collaboration with RMs) and own relationships/contacts to originate opportunities in the market and secure mandates for Fund Finance transactions, while enhancing the client experience
Build working relationships with stakeholders (both internal and external, particularly RMs), in order to enhance the presentation, negotiation and delivery of the Fund Finance product in the market, and expand MUFG’s Fund Finance franchise presence in Singapore
Analyse transactions, identify pros/cons/risks and develop mitigants, and (while guiding and developing junior team members) lead credit application and approval process; present to management and risk functions as required; comply with relevant regulations including but not limited to APRA, ASIC, MAS and JFSA rules (where applicable) and applicable MUFG policies
Job Requirements:
At least 10years' experience in banking or finance, with 5 years' experience in Fund Finance or Structured Finance
Strong business and commercial acumen
Working knowledge of funding vehicles and structures, and jurisdictions including but not limited to Cayman Islands, Singapore, and Luxembourg;
MS office proficient with strong capabilities in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Bachelor degree in Finance; Masters degree in Finance or related disciplines preferable.
