Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Director - Southeast Asia to lead and evolve our communications strategy across the region. This role is ideal for a passionate communications/PR professional who thrives on innovation, problem-solving, and driving impactful narratives. The successful candidate will be intellectually curious, analytical, and possess an entrepreneurial mindset. This role reports into the Senior Vice President, Head of Integrated Marketing and Communications, South East Asia and works in a matrix with the country marketing and comms leads
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute integrated communications strategies to support Mastercard's business objectives and reputation in Southeast Asia.
- Develop and implement integrated corporate and product communications programs for Southeast Asia (SEA).
- Collaborate closely with country-level stakeholders, regional teams, and market counterparts to align communications with Mastercard's business objectives.
- Create strategic frameworks and disseminate tailored communications plans that reflect specific market needs while maintaining regional consistency.
- Monitor and assess public policy developments and leverage communications to support business development and reputation management.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to regional leadership, providing counsel on media relations, crisis management, and internal communications.
- Manage external communications, including media outreach, thought leadership, and storytelling across digital and traditional channels.
- Oversee internal communications programs that strengthen employee engagement and alignment with Mastercard's purpose and values.
- Partner with global and regional teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand positioning.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media, industry influencers, and key external stakeholders.
All About You
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, public relations, or related fields, preferably within multinational organizations.
- Proven experience leading communications functions in large multinational corporations or top-tier communications/PR agencies.
- Strategic thinker with a strong understanding of how communications drives thought leadership and market differentiation.
- Experience in multi-product, multi-business environments is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with senior executives and cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving capabilities, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in public speaking and storytelling.
