WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Director, Communications - Southeast Asia & India and Pacific will report into the VP of Asia Pacific Latin America (APLA) Communications based in the United States and oversee all Communications for our Southeast Asia & India (SEA&I) and Australia and New Zealand (Pacific) Territories, which sit within the APLA geography.

This role will have one direct report (Principal, Communications – Pacific, based in Melbourne Australia) and will also manage contract-based teammates. This role is part of the APLA Communications Leadership team and the Singapore-based Southeast Asia & India (SEA&I) Leadership team.

This role will work with a variety of key stakeholders including the APLA Geo Leadership team, the SEA&I Territory Leadership team, the Pacific Communications team and Pacific Territory Leadership team, external media, other APLA Territory Communications teams (Latin America, Japan and Korea) as well as the WHQ-based APLA Geo Communications team.

This role will also be a part of the Global Communications team and work with Global Communications teammates on a regular basis.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Director, Communications – Southeast Asia & India and Pacific, to be based in our Nike Singapore office. As the Director, Communications – Southeast Asia, India and Pacific, you will lead communications across two of our APLA Territories – SEA&I and Pacific.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, PR, English, Communications or related discipline preferred.

  • 12+ years professional experience in high profile corporate communications or corporate communications and/ or public relations roles supporting globally branded organizations.

  • Experience with big brands and footwear/apparel industry preferred.

  • Management skills including high-profile communications, corporate communications, issues management, consumer and product communications, strategic planning, budgeting and creative solutions with experience in developing proactive, creative communications and extensive communications strategies.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing, coaching and developing talent.

  • Demonstrated and extensive experience writing and editing for print, multi-media formats and digital social formats.

  • Experience managing media relationships end-to-end.

  • Experience communicating to and working with senior executives to provide strategic counsel, clearly articulate ideas, successfully manage differing points of view and strengthen relationships and rapport.

  • Proven ability to communicate plans across a complex matrix on a corporate, regional and functional basis, including presenting before audiences of various sizes and cultures.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English required.

Candidates for this role should be available to travel internationally 10-15% of the time.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

In this role, you'll be responsible for building strategies to engage external audiences and employees to help shape positioning of Nike’s strategies. As a member of the APLA Communications team, you’ll collectively create strategic, integrated, impactful communications plans for the geography. To that end, you’ll,

  • Develop highly innovative and targeted communications strategies, messages and tactics across our SEA&I and Pacific Territories.

  • Lead and drive communication strategies with a particular focus on sport, Nike’s field of play, innovation, growth and mission.

  • Support senior level executives across the SEA&I and Pacific business, to engage with Singapore based employees primarily and Pacific employees based in Melbourne and also across APLA where appropriate.

  • On a day-to-day basis, support global corporate communications strategies/events where appropriate, manage ad-hoc communications issues related to SEA&I and Pacific, manage sports marketing assets in territory from a communications perspective and create communications plans, track timelines and manage communications budget.

  • Manage internal and external communications approval processes where appropriate.
