We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to lead our Cloud and Hosting Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) Operations team. This role will be accountable for the reliability and performance of our Cloud and Hosting infrastructure services for all Pfizer business units globally. This includes Cloud, Server, Storage, Data Backup and Restore, Database, and Middleware operations. The successful candidate will apply SRE principles to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and deliver tangible business outcomes that support the organization's strategic goals.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead and manage a team of Site Reliability Engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Accountable for operations across Cloud, Server, Storage, Backup/Restore, Database, and Middleware for all Pfizer business units globally to ensure high service reliability and availability.
  • Partnering with Automation and Continuous Improvement functions, identify and eliminate toil through automation and streamlined processes, enhancing team productivity and service efficiency.
  • Implement observability tools for deep system analysis and proactive monitoring, ensuring early detection and resolution of issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and business value.
  • Drive major incident resolution and break/fix events to minimize downtime and business impact.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to influence design and architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and SOPs to ensure operational consistency, compliance and knowledge sharing.
  • Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and professional growth.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 8 years' experience in IT Operations with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelors in business, computer science or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent leadership skills, with an ability to mentor and grow technical teams.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and automation. Strong knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS and Azure.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering principles and practices, with experience of managing Infrastructure operations.
  • Demonstrated success in driving continuous improvement and delivering business outcomes.
  • Keen data literacy, skilled at aggregating multiple data sources to drive insights and actions.
  • Proficiency in observability tools (monitoring, logging, tracing).
  • Embraces accountability, exhibiting an ownership demeanor.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Formal ITIL certification an advantage.

  • After hours or weekend work may be required to participate in global meetings or in support of major incident or problem management

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $169,700.00 to $282,900.00.* In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. * The annual base salary for this position in Tampa, FL ranges from $152,700.00 to $254,500.00.
