Raytheon’s Legal, Contracts and Compliance organization is seeking a seasoned business lawyer with a broad background in international operations, transactions, governance, cross-border assignments, and compliance to serve as Director and Senior Counsel, Raytheon Emirates Limited (REL) reporting to the Vice President and General Counsel, Strategy & International. A key member of Raytheon’s International legal team, this role will serve as lead business counsel supporting REL and the achievement of Raytheon’s business objectives in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
In this role you will provide general counsel support to REL on all internal and external legal issues, working across Raytheon business and product lines. Categories of specialization may include, but are not limited to, corporate law, litigation, commercial and government contracts, employment law, environmental, real estate, and intellectual property.
This position will be onsite in Abu Dhabi, United Arab of Emirates.
What You Will Do
- Provide strategic, thorough, and well-reasoned legal advice at the speed of the business, serving as a trusted business partner to REL and Raytheon business leaders and functional colleagues across the enterprise.
- Lead in negotiating and drafting high-value, bespoke agreements, including customer agreements, teaming agreements, complex framework agreements, statements of work, purchase order terms and conditions, and subcontract agreements.
- Provide close and thorough support for new business pursuit activities, from engagement in pursuit strategy discussions to preparation of contract term analysis memoranda and new business reviews and approvals.
- Partner with frontline business leaders and support and lead cross-functional / cross-discipline teams in the structuring and implementation of a range of strategic initiatives and transactions.
- Manage and/or support outside counsel engagements on a range of legal matters, including complex transactional, regulatory, litigation and compliance matters.
- Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with stakeholders and partners across Raytheon and RTX.
- Demonstrate high degree of fluency on a range of specialized business and legal matters of critical importance to Raytheon and RTX, including matters involving intellectual property, global trade, ethics and anti-corruption, supply chain / procurement processes, and data privacy law.
- Coordinate and / or provide regulatory compliance training and guidance to business teams operating on the front lines of the business.
- Exercise highest ethical standards and champion commitment to organizational integrity.
- Travel periodically, including to Raytheon sites outside of the UAE.
Qualifications You Must Have
- Law degree (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Typically requires a cumulative 12 years of prior relevant experience in supporting complex business transactional and regulatory matters.
- Experience analyzing, negotiating, drafting and advising on a wide range of legal, commercial and / or operational issues and considerations.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Experience in the defense industry, national security and / or technology sector.
- Experience as an in-house counsel at a large multinational.
- Experience with a top tier law firm working on corporate transactional matters.
- Excellent commercial acumen and ability to quickly understand, converse, and engage on a wide range of commercial and operational issues and considerations.
- Excellent interpersonal and executive-level communication and writing skills.
- Excellent and proven leadership skills, sound judgment, and meticulous attention to detail.
- The ability to engage enthusiastically and collaboratively with stakeholders and contributors from multiple levels of the organization.
- The ability to foster positive working relationships with peers, internal clients, and external customers.
- The ability to learn quickly, influence senior leadership, work independently, lead cross-functionally, and drive process.
- The ability to prioritize and manage a high-volume workload.
