Since 1968, the International Baccalaureate (IB) has been on a mission to develop lifelong learners who thrive and make a difference in the global community. South Korea is one of the IB’s fastest-growing regions, propelled by governmental support from regional Offices of Education (OEs). To date, IB has signed Memoranda of Cooperation (MOCs) with 12 out of 17 OEs, and interest continues to grow across the country. This rapid expansion has positioned South Korea to become the third country with the largest volume of IB world schools globally. IB work in South Korea requires engaging with a wide range of stakeholders within the public education system including government bodies (the 12 provincial/metropolitan OEs), higher education institutions, districts, and schools to further amplify IB’s mission to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people.
The role of the regional South Korea Community Partnerships & Development (CP&D) team is to:
Manage and nurture key external stakeholder relationships with OEs, higher education institutions, associations, groups of schools and individual schools in South Korea
Provide coordinated and seamless support to schools in South Korea (and the correlated OE) throughout their entire journey of becoming an IB world school.
Develop and implement localized strategies to maximize IB’s impact in South Korea.
Build awareness, acceptance and recognition of IB programmes and services in South Korea.
Feed local insights back into IB’s global functional centres and work with IB’s global teams to identify and implement continuous improvement.
As a member of the South Korea CP&D team, the Development Associate Manager is responsible for supporting South Korean schools in their journey of adopting IB programmes through providing hands-on, on-the-ground management, coordination, and execution of local events, sessions, conferences, webinars, and virtual meetings. In addition, the job holder works to develop, evaluate and constantly refine local growth and sustainability strategy against established targets, which includes ensuring that action plans are written, implemented and executed. To this end, the Development Associate Manager provides hands-on administrative support to the greater CP&D team so that it can successfully execute its annual country-level work plan. Primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: coordination, planning, and execution of special events and activities; creating systems and structures to maintain country-level documentation (e.g., meeting agendas and minutes, contracts, etc.); tracking and disseminating key decisions and communications; and identifying and working with local vendors.
Responsibilities
Strategic, growth and action planning
Work with Head of South Korea and CP&D managers to develop and execute annual action/growth plans
Work with CP&D South Korea team to develop and deliver annual calendar of country development and recognition activities
Work with Head of South Korea and CP&D managers to build annual budget and identify cost optimization strategies.
Help develop value proposition of IB education/programmes within the South Korean context.
Monitor leads and other school-related data in Salesforce, data reporting through tracking of reports on Salesforce and creating data sets that provide valuable insights for the team.
Monitor progress of applications regularly through various internal systems and provide updates on progress to the team.
Coordinate with IT on technical issues encountered by schools throughout the application process.
Coordinate with Asia Pacific regional team and Marketing/Communications team to ensure continuity and connectivity of country-level initiatives.
Account management
Serve as liaison between schools and IB, including IB Authorization, World Schools, Legal, Finance, and other IB teams
Promote IB programmes and services to senior staff representing schools.
Gather feedback from participating schools and OEs to ensure the effectiveness of events and activities.
Seek opportunities to improve delivery experiences based on participant feedback and evolving needs.
Prepare periodic reports on event requests and overall impact for internal and external stakeholders
Provide quality service to all stakeholders (OEs, schools) who contact IB through IB Answers and help ensure that cases are assigned to the team and followed up on in a timely manner.
Promotional activities/outreach events
Own the coordination, planning, execution and logistics of country-level special events and activities as planned by the South Korea CP&D team.
Oversee calendar of promotional, local activities.
Serve as a bilingual, in-country point of contact for all special events and activities.
Serve as liaison with marketing teams to maximize impact of marketing efforts.
Collect information from OEs and schools to consolidate and manage event needs.
Support participants with registration procedures, ensuring compliance with IB guidelines, policies, and timelines.
Work with internal IB global teams as necessary to ensure events are being conducted in compliance to any IB global terms and conditions.
Project management
Set up efficient systems and structures on MS Teams to organize all country-level documents (contracts, plans, minutes, etc.).
Maintain clear records of discussions, decisions, and follow-up actions from all team and partner interactions and meetings.
Clearly communicate pertinent decisions and news to ensure the South Korea CP&D team are aligned as well as other relevant IB stakeholders.
Track critical milestones and deadlines and ensure the team are making progress against them.
Schedule and facilitate regular coordination meetings with the team and other IB stakeholders to share updates, resolve roadblocks, and align on priorities.
Collect and consolidate information from various departments (e.g., MEP, Assessment) to inform and update annual work plans; actively track and update the annual work plans.
Special projects
Support special projects as identified by the South Korea CP&D team.
Conduct web researches to find relevant, interesting, and hard-to-find data and resources that informs decisions and drives projects forward.
Identify potential marketing opportunities.

Explore and identify best approaches to optimize IB outreach.
Support schools interested in becoming IB World Schools (IBWS) by ensuring they are prepared and knowledgeable about the process.

Educational background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Educational Administration, or a related discipline.
Work experience:
Extensive experience in education programme coordination, event planning, or stakeholder management in the education sector.
Experience working with IB programmes or international education frameworks is an advantage.
Experience in creating multiple strategic initiatives to increase performance and growth.
Demonstrated ability to identify and assess market segments/needs and develop strategies to enhance service and revenue
Demonstrated skills as a collaborator and team leader.
Experience in marketing and/or advertising desirable.
Project management certification preferred.
Skills and competencies:
Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
Proficiency in administrative tools such as data tracking systems, Microsoft Office, PowerBI, Salesforce.
Strong web research capabilities, with a track record of finding relevant, interesting, and hard-to-find data and resources that informs decisions or drives projects forward.
Excellent communication skills in both English and Korean to effectively engage with IB teams and local education authorities.
Ability to simplify complex processes and provide clear guidance to stakeholders.
