Job Overview

We are looking for an Engineer with strong software development capabilities, particularly in Java and SailPoint customisation, to strengthen our Identity and Access Management (IAM) delivery capability.

The role will be responsible for understanding client and business requirements, translating them into technical solutions, and designing, developing and maintaining SailPoint customisations and integrations. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, clients and stakeholders to deliver scalable and maintainable IAM solutions.

Beyond project delivery, the role will play an important part in building internal engineering capability by providing technical guidance, knowledge sharing and on-the-job coaching to junior local resources, progressively enabling the team to undertake similar SailPoint customisation and development work independently.

Key Responsibilities

SailPoint Customisation & Development

  • Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective SailPoint IdentityIQ customisation and development solutions.
  • Design, develop, configure and maintain SailPoint customisations using Java and related development frameworks.
  • Develop and maintain custom rules, workflows, connectors, integrations, forms, reports and other SailPoint components based on project requirements.
  • Perform code maintenance, troubleshooting, debugging and optimisation of existing SailPoint implementations.
  • Evaluate existing customisations and identify opportunities to improve performance, scalability, maintainability and reliability.
  • Develop integrations between SailPoint and other enterprise applications, directories, databases and security platforms.
  • Ensure development work follows appropriate coding, security, testing and documentation standards.

IAM Solution Delivery

  • Work closely with clients, business stakeholders, solution architects and project teams to understand requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Participate in solution design, technical discussions, prototyping, development, testing, deployment and post-implementation support.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of application build, release, deployment and configuration activities.
  • Develop and execute test plans, perform quality reviews and support defect resolution.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical and operational issues, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support continuous improvement of IAM delivery practices, technical approaches and reusable development components.

Technical Leadership & Capability Building

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior IAM engineers and developers on Java development and SailPoint customisation.
  • Coach and train local resources through project-based knowledge transfer, code reviews, technical walkthroughs and hands-on development.
  • Develop reusable technical documentation, coding practices and development guidelines to build internal SailPoint capability.
  • Gradually enable junior resources to take ownership of SailPoint customisation and development activities with reduced dependency on senior resources.
  • Stay current with SailPoint capabilities, IAM technologies, Java development practices and emerging industry trends.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate effectively with clients, vendors, partners and internal stakeholders at both technical and business levels.
  • Communicate technical concepts and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Participate actively in project planning, technical discussions and solution reviews.
  • Contribute to ad-hoc projects, initiatives and other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Essential

  • Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in Java development, preferably in an enterprise application environment.
  • Experience in SailPoint IdentityIQ customisation and development.
  • Strong understanding of software development principles, including object-oriented programming, debugging, testing and code maintenance.
  • Experience translating business and technical requirements into application or system solutions.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server or other RDBMS.
  • Experience with application integration, APIs and enterprise systems would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle, deployment and release processes.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Windows environments.

Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Strong software development and engineering mindset, with an emphasis on producing maintainable and quality code.
  • Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a project team.
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and stakeholders to clarify requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people at different levels of an organisation.
  • Adaptable and able to respond effectively to changing business requirements, priorities and technologies.
  • Strong coaching and knowledge-sharing mindset, with the ability to develop and mentor junior team members.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities to improve technical solutions and delivery practices.
