Currencies and Emerging Markets – Korea FX Trading Assistant (1-Year Contract)

Supports institutional KRW FX trading by monitoring macroeconomic and market drivers, tracking liquidity and flows, assisting with pricing and execution, and producing desk analytics, risk summaries, dashboards, and reporting. The role also identifies automation and process-improvement opportunities using Excel, VBA, and Python while maintaining operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, and disciplined risk controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor global macro events, Korea-specific drivers, and cross-asset dynamics (rates, equities, commodities) impacting KRW and broader FX markets
- Track market liquidity, supply/demand and flow dynamics; summarize market color, key levels and themes for internal stakeholders and client engagement materials
- Support day-to-day pricing and execution processes for institutional KRW Spot/Swaps/NDFs flow in partnership with Senior Traders, with a strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and operational discipline
- Produce and maintain recurring desk analytics and reporting (e.g., flow recap, P&L/risk attribution support packs, risk summaries, daily/weekly dashboards)
- Identify opportunities for incremental automation and process improvements (Excel/VBA/Python where relevant) to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk
- Maintain strong process discipline and adhere to internal policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory/market requirements
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (or expected graduation) in a quantitative/analytical discipline (e.g., Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics) or equivalent
- Strong interest in global financial markets and motivation to learn FX market structure and trading workflows
- Early-career/ new graduates with prior markets exposure are welcome
- Solid quantitative skills and attention to detail; comfort working with numbers under time pressure
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate across Trading, Sales, Operations, and Controls
- High integrity, strong ownership mindset, and commitment to disciplined risk behavior
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant experience in markets/trading, trading/sales assistant roles, or related financial markets functions (internship experience welcomed)
- Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with Python/VBA for analysis and automation is advantageous
- Self-motivated team player with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset
