As a Credit Manager, you will be part of a team which is working to support our rapid growth at Funding Societies. Our credit team is responsible for making lending decisions. In addition to having a knack for problem-solving, it is absolutely crucial that you are willing to learn, understand and adapt to the fast paced environment.

What you will do:

Credit Assessment and Risk Analysis:

  • Analyze risks, exposures, and perform due diligence for loan applicants using a proprietary platform, ensuring comprehensive risk assessment of SME clients.
  • Evaluate the financial health of applicants through financial statements, market data, and industry trends, while considering macroeconomic factors that may impact the creditworthiness of the business.
  • Balance credit risk and business risk by using analytical judgment to make educated and well-informed decisions on loan approvals.
  • Conduct ongoing macro-economic, industry, and market analysis to understand potential impacts on the loan portfolio and provide recommendations for strengthening credit strategies.

Loan Evaluation and Decision Making:

  • Evaluate, recommend, approve or reject applications based on creditworthiness, following established credit policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Recommend loan/facility amounts, repayment terms based on credit risk profiles while adhering to the Company’s risk management guidelines.
  • Provide risk mitigation strategies for identified risks, such as enhanced collateral or structuring of loan terms, to protect the Company from potential defaults.

Credit Risk Management and Portfolio Oversight:

  • Perform data management and maintenance to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and performance of the SME credit portfolio, supporting a comprehensive risk framework.
  • Develop and implement credit rating models and management processes for SME customers to ensure a robust credit rating system that reflects the borrower’s risk profile.
  • Monitor and manage the SME loan portfolio on an ongoing basis, providing a forward-looking view of portfolio performance and adjusting credit strategies based on emerging trends.

Reporting and Strategic Recommendations:

  • Prepare regular reports on loan portfolio performance, highlighting risk areas and making recommendations to senior management for improving credit policies.
  • Take on special projects to support the company’s strategic goals, including initiatives related to credit portfolio improvement, new market penetration, and risk management.

Team Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including financial product, operations, legal, and risk management, to streamline loan processing and support the company’s overall objectives.
  • Lead and mentor junior credit analysts, ensuring consistent application of credit risk methodologies and supporting team development.

Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Ensure all credit decisions are compliant with regulatory standards and internal credit policies.
  • Continually refine credit scoring systems and recommend improvements to credit management processes based on industry best practices.

Scope:

  • Works primarily with small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), providing financial analysis, risk assessment, and lending recommendations.
  • Oversees loan portfolios that can range in size and complexity, requiring expertise in risk management and financial analysis.
  • Plays a vital role in maintaining a balance between credit risk and business growth, ensuring both the financial health of the Company and the success of SME clients.
Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in working capital and trade underwriting, ideally in local SMEs, financial institutions, or Fintech firms.
  • Ability to balance credit and business risks for sound lending decisions.
  • Skilled in data-driven decision making and scenario analysis.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptable, goal-oriented, with strong work ethics and a passion for learning.
