About Clear Street:

Clear Street is modernizing the brokerage ecosystem. Founded in 2018, Clear Street is a diversified financial services firm replacing the legacy infrastructure used across capital markets.

We started from scratch by building a completely cloud-native clearing and custody system designed for today’s complex, global market. Clear Street’s proprietary prime brokerage platform adds significant efficiency to the market, while focusing on minimizing risk, redundancy, and cost for clients. Our goal is to create a single source-of-truth platform for every asset class, in every country, and in any currency.

By combining highly-skilled product and engineering talent with seasoned finance professionals, we are building the essentials to compete in today’s fast-paced markets.

The Role:

The Compliance team is looking for an experienced, self-driven Compliance Officer to join our team and support Clear Street’s expansion in Asian markets.  This role will be based in Singapore. The Compliance Officer will play an important role in shaping our compliance program in key Asian jurisdictions and will provide advice and guidance to Clear Street affiliates on regulatory requirements and AML risks associated with these jurisdictions. This role will require interest and ability to work across several Compliance areas, manage multiple deadlines and interact with internal and external stakeholders.

The Compliance Officer will work closely with business functions to provide advice, address questions, conduct surveillances, investigate issues and develop sustainable corrective actions. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator who will serve as the face of the Compliance team both internally and externally and is comfortable working directly with all levels of management. A successful candidate will be a person who identifies issues and independently develops solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter compliance advisory across Clear Street’s global businesses on cross-border and region-specific requirements and restrictions.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders in the business, operations, risk, technology and finance teams to ensure robust compliance policies and procedures are in place to support trading, clearing and custody in Asian markets.
  • Develop and perform surveillance and supervisory reviews.
  • Conduct AML due diligence and respond to AML/KYC inquiries from third parties.
  • Respond to regulatory inquiries by gathering data, conducting stakeholder interviews and performing analyses to inform a narrative response.
  • Perform regulatory reviews and reporting
  • Communicate with regulators and other external parties (verbal and written) in connection with inquiries, exams, rule-making initiatives and outreach

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • At least three (3) years of professional experience with a financial services firm, regulator, audit firm or commensurate compliance experience.
  • At least three (3) years of work experience in broker-dealer regulation, including securities and commodities laws, agency/client trading, the SFC, ASIC or MAS’ capital markets regulations and guidance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter and team player who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with equities, options, fixed income, currency, commodities, futures and swaps.
