What you will do:
As Compliance Manager, you will be responsible for the implementation and ongoing oversight of the ethics and compliance program across Johnson Controls-Hitachi international sites. In this role, you will support the business in promoting a strong ethical culture and embedding effective compliance risk management practices across our international sites. You will report directly to the Global Compliance Director.

The position will require partnering with senior management, advising them of all relevant key regulatory changes to inform business planning and strategic decision making and aligning the team’s support to appropriately prevent, detect and respond to ethics and compliance risks.

How you will do it:

  • Communication & Culture:

  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels with senior management on ethics and compliance matters

  • Develop programs that drive adherence to the Code of Ethics and compliance-related policies, enhancing the “tone at the top” and fostering a “speak up” culture

  • Advisory & Guidance:

  • Provide advice on the application of the Code of Ethics and associated compliance policies, procedures, and controls and review high-risk transactions

  • Training & Development:

  • Develop and sustain a comprehensive Compliance Training program, including introductory training for new employees and ongoing training for all staff and managers, incorporating best practices in compliance education

  • Lead the “Integrity Champions” program by maintaining the network, providing training, guidance, and ongoing monitoring

  • Risk Management:

  • Identify emerging risk factors within the ethics and compliance program, recommend and implement preventive and corrective actions to mitigate risks and advance the company’s goals in a legal and ethical manner

  • Monitoring & Insights:

  • Conduct monitoring activities and provide insights to leadership

  • Develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of the business, stay current on emerging regulatory developments and develop solutions to mitigate associated risk and ensure compliance

  • Investigations & Remediation:

  • Identify and follow up on ethics and compliance matters requiring investigation

  • Conduct or support investigations and manage the remediation and disciplinary process

  • Assessments & Audits: Support compliance audits and conduct compliance risk assessments

  • M&A Activities: Assist with M&A due diligence and post-acquisition integration activities

  • Special Projects: Execute special projects as needed, including developing new compliance tools and programs to address business needs and emerging risks 

What we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Legal or other relevant discipline

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in ethics and compliance, legal or internal audit in a multi-national corporation

  • In-depth understanding of Business Ethics and Compliance and industry best practices

  • Strong understanding on ABC (Anti-Bribery and Corruption), Fair Competition, Conflict of Interests and Data Privacy as well as local compliance related laws and regulations

  • Demonstrated familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and human resource procedures, including whistleblowing management

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, be a self-starter and be proactive

  • Sound business judgement and acumen, with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice and solutions by balancing business needs with risk exposure

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills

  • Proficient in PowerPoint, Excel, Word. Video-making tools is an advantage. 

  • Fluent in English (both written and spoken). Candidates who are fluent in one or more Asian languages such as Mandarin or Japanese will be preferred as this position will require to interact with stakeholders speaking in Mandarin or Japanese.

  • Ability to manage high stakes matters in a professional, assertive and proactive manner

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate comfortably at all levels within an organization, and with culturally diverse, international personnel.
