As a Cloud Financial Operations Analyst, you will manage inventory of reservation commitments for cloud services, analyze cost datasets, and build reservation models to optimize cloud spending. Collaborating with engineering and finance teams, the role focuses on cost management and visibility, driving strategic purchasing decisions to achieve savings.
The summary above was generated by AI

The Cloud FinOps team is responsible for all things cloud cost related, which includes providing engineering teams with meaningful cloud spend visibility, empowering finance and executive leadership to understand the complexities of cloud costs, securing the best reservation discount rates, and identifying cost savings opportunities. Having worked on these problems for several years, we already have a lot of the basics covered, and we're looking to push our team's capabilities to the next level.
What You'll Do:
As a Cloud Financial Operations Analyst, you will help drive our efforts to purchase and manage an inventory of reservation commitments on behalf of the whole Engineering organization - this includes Reserved Instances and Savings Plans for AWS and Azure as well as Committed Use Discounts for GCP . You will use Datadog cloud cost tools, SQL, spreadsheet wizardry, and your communication network within Engineering to build reservation models, prove out the best strategic options, anticipate usage changes, and ultimately purchase reservations that optimize our savings. There will also be opportunities to work on other cost savings efforts, cost visibility, and supporting our partners in Finance, but initially you'll be focused on reservation management.
Who You Are:

  • Experienced in managing the reservation purchasing and management process on behalf of engineers who use the resources
  • Analytical and detail oriented by nature, sweating the details to get the most out of key operational processes
  • Comfortable modeling complex cloud cost concepts and analyzing cost datasets using spreadsheets, BI visualization tools, and possibly SQL
  • An excellent communicator, demonstrating experience in partnering with clients
  • Fluent in the languages of both Engineering and Finance
  • A team player, excited to collaborate with others to achieve common goals and open to the ideas and feedback of others
  • Thrive in making high-pressure decisions after thorough analysis, and ability to communicate decision logic to various stakeholders
  • Naturally inquisitive with a bias for action and comfortable with ambiguity
