Role Overview – Client Partner

The Client Partner is the senior accountable owner of strategic client partnerships, responsible for protecting and growing the long-term value of the relationship.

The role owns the client growth agenda, senior stakeholder relationships, commercial performance, retention and strategic direction of the partnership. The Client Partner is expected to understand where the client’s business is heading, identify the most valuable problems dentsu can help solve, and mobilise the right capabilities across the organisation to capture those opportunities.

Operating primarily with C-suite, ExCo and senior functional leaders, the Client Partner acts as a trusted business advisor rather than the day-to-day account lead.

The Client Partner is ultimately accountable for the health and performance of the account and how it helps grow the overall business.

Key Operating Mindset

  • Agile: Moves with pace and judgement, adapting quickly as client and business priorities evolve.
  • Enterprising: Spots opportunities, solves problems proactively and thinks like an owner.
  • Resilient: Stays composed, pragmatic and effective through pressure, ambiguity and setbacks.

  • Set the strategic ambition for the account and ensure dentsu is solving increasingly valuable business and marketing problems for the client, beyond the immediate brief or channel requirement.
  • Turn complex business and marketing challenges into sharp strategic problems, clear choices and actionable recommendations.
  • Bring sufficient strategic depth across B2B, media, ABM, demand generation and customer experience to shape senior client conversations, identify opportunities and challenge the quality of the work, without becoming the day-to-day strategy or delivery lead.
  • Develop strong strategic narratives and frameworks that simplify complexity and create alignment across senior stakeholders.
  • Ensure media strategy goes beyond channel planning, defining the role media should play across awareness, demand creation, consideration, account engagement and conversion.
  • Manage Client Directors x their respective teams. Client Director owns the day-to-day management, delivery, operational performance and execution of the client relationship.
  • Use customer, category, competitive and performance insight to identify whitespace opportunities and inform future client strategy.
  • Challenge client assumptions constructively and bring a clear point of view on what the business should do differently.
  • Draft and design SOW documents for new scopes or new projects.
  • Have a clear point of view on preferred partners based on effectiveness and proven delivery quality.

Client Partnership & Leadership

  • Build, maintain, and deepen trusted senior‑level client partnerships, including C‑suite, regional leadership, and key decision‑makers.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor, translating complex business challenges into effective media, customer experience, and growth strategies.
  • Shape and lead a forward‑looking client partnership strategy, proactively identifying opportunities, anticipating needs, and strengthening long‑term advocacy and retention.

Business & Commercial Ownership

  • Work with Strategy and Media teams to build differentiated, commercially compelling responses.
  • Lead or contribute to senior pitch presentations, demonstrating both strategic depth and commercial credibility.
  • Identify repeatable strategic approaches, IP and solutions that can strengthen the wider dentsu B2B proposition and create new revenue opportunities.

Key Experience & Background

  • At least 4 years in a Client Partner or senior client leadership role, managing complex, multi‑stakeholder client relationships. And a total of 14+ years of experience in account management or strategy in a media/integrated agency.
  • Proven track record of winning, growing, and retaining large, strategic accounts.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver commercial growth and expansion opportunities, including integrated and multi‑market engagements.
