About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Capital Accountant to join our Finance team in Malaysia. As a Capital Accountant, you will manage and maintain the accuracy of our fixed asset records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role is essential for supporting financial reporting and tracking of the company's capital assets in our fast-paced semiconductor manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Fixed Asset Management & Compliance
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register for all capital expenditures and projects, ensuring compliance with TI's accounting policies and applicable standards (MFRS, IFRS)
• Review and ensure timely and accurate capitalization of fixed assets upon project completion
• Calculate and record monthly depreciation of fixed assets with proper cost allocation per accounting standards
• Perform regular reconciliations of fixed asset ledger with general ledger, addressing discrepancies to ensure data integrity
Audit & Control Activities
• Assist with periodic physical inventories and asset audits, managing timely disposal and write-off of assets
• Prepare manual journal entries related to fixed asset activities with proper documentation and support
• Support statutory audit, internal audit, and SOX compliance activities
• Ensure robust controls for transaction processing, accounting processes, close activities, and compliance reporting
Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare and review management reports on capital projects and fixed asset portfolios
• Support monthly/quarterly/year-end close processes, including Balance Sheet and P&L flux analysis
• Provide audit support, ensuring all fixed asset documentation is accurate and compliant
• Prepare corporate tax compliance and indirect tax documentation
Process Improvement & Collaboration
• Work closely with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to ensure accurate tracking of capital expenditures and project costs
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in fixed asset management, reporting, and systems
• Liaise with other TI sites for best practice sharing and process improvements
• Implement new processes to improve efficiency in tracking and reporting capital assets
• Automate, enhance, and document processes where necessary
• Ensure vendor payment compliance with statutory and TI policies
QualificationsMinimum Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy (Hons.) or equivalent with full professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
• CGPA: 3.0 and above
• Experience: 1-2 years of post-graduate experience in general accounting; audit experience preferred. Fresh graduates (0-2 years of experience) are welcome to apply
• Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting standards and the Companies Act
• Systems: Proficiency in Excel, SAP, and SharePoint
