Job Description

AECOM is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Senior Manager - Water & Wastewater Conveyance to lead our growth strategy, major pursuits, and client engagement efforts across Canada. This senior leadership role focuses on delivering integrated, resilient, and sustainable solutions for large-scale water and wastewater conveyance systems—including trunk mains, pressure zones, tunnels, and pumping infrastructure. As a trusted advisor to public sector clients, you’ll collaborate with technical teams, regional business leaders, and pursuit strategists to shape critical infrastructure across the country.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Market Development

  • Lead national strategy for water and wastewater conveyance systems, including large-diameter pipelines, force mains, and gravity sewers.
  • Identify and pursue high-impact opportunities across key markets such as Metro Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, and regional municipalities.
  • Collaborate with tunneling, trenchless technology, and pump station experts to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Client Relationships & Industry Visibility

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal clients, water agencies, and utility providers.
  • Serve as a visible industry leader at key conferences and technical forums (e.g., CWWA, TAC, NASTT).
  • Support client pre-positioning, pursuit planning, and go/no-go decisions for major conveyance projects.

Pursuits & Proposal Leadership

  • Oversee strategic capture planning and proposal execution for major pipeline and conveyance infrastructure opportunities.
  • Leverage internal technical expertise in hydraulic modeling, trenchless design, and condition assessment.
  • Ensure pursuit strategies align with client needs, funding environments, and AECOM’s delivery capabilities.

Team Development & Internal Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide technical and business development staff in conveyance-related pursuits.
  • Work with engineering, construction management, and tunneling teams to align market strategy with project execution.
  • Foster a high-performance culture focused on excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (or related technical field).
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, including 8+ years in business development or leadership roles focused on water/wastewater conveyance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation preferred.
  • Proven track record in securing and delivering complex linear infrastructure projects (e.g., trunk mains, large-diameter pipelines, tunnel systems).
  • Deep understanding of municipal procurement models, funding programs, and project lifecycles.
  • Experience with trenchless technologies (HDD, micro-tunneling, CIPP, etc.) and conveyance systems >1000 mm in diameter.
  • Strong relationships with major Canadian water utilities, municipalities, and regulators.
  • Familiarity with asset management, hydraulic modeling, and condition assessment approaches.
  • Proven growth in conveyance-related backlog and revenue

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
