Business Development Manager

We are looking for a commercially savvy New Business Manager/BD Manager to join our team in Singapore. This role is responsible for originating, developing, and closing new revenue opportunities while ensuring a seamless handover to Operations. Reporting directly to the Head of Growth, you will own the sales process, manage a solid pipeline, and work closely with the management team to drive our next phase of expansion across APAC.

The ideal candidate needs to have a strong growth mindset, be confident in senior-level conversations, and be disciplined in pipeline management. You will bridge the gap between Sales and Operations, translating commercial agreements into successful delivery expectations.

Responsibilities

Revenue Generation & Pipeline Management

  • Build and convert a qualified pipeline of new business opportunities through outbound prospecting and nurturing inbound leads.
  • Leverage and expand an existing network of CMOs, Marketing Directors, and brand-side decision-makers.
  • Own monthly pipeline reporting and revenue forecasting to provide regular updates to leadership.
  • Use sales tools and software to evaluate activity and pivot tactics in real-time based on effectiveness.

Strategic Selling & Pitching

  • Diagnose client challenges and position tailored solutions that articulate value beyond cost (e.g., embedded teams, in-housing, performance models).
  • Lead chemistry meetings, credentials presentations, and the end-to-end pitch process.
  • Elevate conversations from project-based assignments to long-term strategic partnerships.
  • Raise the agency’s profile by communicating our unique value proposition and services through targeted channels.

Commercial & Deal Structuring

  • Lead proposal development, scope definition, and pricing strategy to ensure models are profitable and scalable.
  • Negotiate MSAs, SOWs, and fee structures while protecting margins and maintaining competitiveness.
  • Oversee budget planning and fiscal management processes with a focus on driving results.
  • Interpret market intelligence and data to improve conversion rates and targeting methods.

Operational Alignment & Handover

  • Ensure a structured and documented handover of signed contracts to the Operations team.
  • Align with cross-functional stakeholders on resourcing, timelines, KPIs, and potential risk factors.
  • Remain involved during the onboarding phase to protect relationship continuity and minimise scope leakage.
You:
  • Experience: Approximately 8+ years of experience in an agency (advertising, digital, or creative), marketing services, or consultancy.
  • Track Record: Proven success in closing mid-to-large scale retainers and managing a full-funnel sales cycle.
  • Network: An existing professional network within the Singapore and/or APAC marketing community, particularly in sectors like Technology, FMCG, or Financial Services.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong financial literacy with experience handling complex contracts, pricing models, and business reviews.
  • Communication: Confident presenter able to navigate various personality types and communicate complex issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Soft Skills: Highly organised with CRM discipline, a positive motivator, and comfortable operating with a high degree of ambiguity and change.

Please note: due to the high volume of applications, only successful candidates will be contacted with a follow-up introduction email.  If you do not receive an email from Maker Lab, your application has been unsuccessful this time around.
