The Opportunity:

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Global Strategic Controller for its Transformer business. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing financial strategies within a business unit and act as BU CFO’s delegate supporting buildup of cross functional and GPG Strategies. This role requires collaboration with senior management to make informed decisions, assess enterprise and business risks, overall business strategy cohesiveness to deliver financial stability and growth. This position requires a strong understanding of finance, business acumen, and the ability to align financial goals with the company's overall strategic direction. To be successful in the role, you should demonstrate strong discipline, intellectual and influencing capabilities, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills. You should also be professional, responsive, and service oriented as this role demands managing stakeholders in functions across the BU.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • You will support and contribute to the definition of the financial strategy for the Business Unit, research and investigate key industry trends and provide meaningful insights for the organization, integrate information from multiple sources to develop actionable intelligence and recommendations to support the overall growth and/or targeted mid to long term strategies.

  • You will drive digitalization of finance processes, support optimization and automation of internal processes, to improve productivity and reduce cost of poor quality, monitor operational KPIs and provide meaningful insights to support implementation of Lean strategies, Capacity loading and Constraints management, drive BU operational risk management through identification and implementation of appropriate risk mitigation actions and support digitalization of Operational processes.

  • You will support optimization and automation of internal processes, to improve productivity and reduce cost of poor quality, monitor operational KPIs and provide meaningful insights to support implementation of Lean strategies, Capacity loading and Constraints management, drive BU operational risk management through identification and implementation of appropriate risk mitigation actions.

  • You will analyze supply chain processes to identify opportunities for cost and lead time reduction, support inventory analysis to implement Lean strategies for optimizing stock levels while balancing product availability. Support digitalization of SCM processes and evaluate and automate internal controls across the BU through workflows and harmonized processes and drive digitalization of Risk processes.

  • You will utilize data analysis to gain insights into people and project analytics, leading to strategy and actions to remediate skill gaps to achieve medium term strategy, support with performance KPIs and analysis to identify and implement improvement areas, in alignment with digital team, identify and implement digital tools and processes to support BU growth strategy.

  • You will drive standardization and efficiencies across the functions with effective use of systems, develop and provide tools for quick and effective management information for leadership teams at all levels within the BU and collaboration with GPGs in Strategic projects like M&A, Footprint Rationalization, Business Process Restructuring, Digitalization of internal and external processes.

Your background:  

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) is mandatory.

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience working in a manufacturing/project environment.

  • Proficiency in HITACHI Energy internal tools like ABACUS, ATLAS and Microsoft Office Suite (mainly Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI).

  • Post graduate degree in finance and controlling like CA/CPA/ CIMA or Master of Finance is preferred.

  • Detailed oriented, with a “hands on” approach to work. Strong analytical skills and intellectual curiosity.

  • Executive presence and exceptional organizational skills and knowledge in SAP or another equivalent ERP tool.

  • Excellent communication skill.
