We're seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our growing team and drive the development of Manus's core infrastructure and business systems. This role offers the opportunity to work across two specialized tracks: infrastructure engineering and business application development, allowing you to shape both the technical foundation and user-facing features of our AI-powered platform.
Key Responsibilities
Core Backend Development
Build high-performance, scalable backend services using Golang to support core AI product features
Design, develop, and optimize APIs (RESTful and GraphQL) ensuring efficient frontend-backend interactions
Participate in system architecture design to ensure stability, reliability, and scalability at enterprise scale
Handle large-scale data flows and optimize distributed systems for peak performance
Collaborate closely with frontend and AI agent teams to support rapid product iteration cycles
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices
Infrastructure Track (Option A)
Middleware & Core Systems Management
Maintain and optimize Manus's foundational middleware stack including databases, caching layers, logging systems, and message queues
Design and manage Kubernetes cluster architecture for optimal resource utilization and fault tolerance
Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions across all infrastructure components
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for mission-critical systems
E2B Cluster Operations
Oversee maintenance, configuration, and enhancement of Manus's E2B cluster infrastructure
Drive capacity planning and scaling initiatives to meet growing demand
Implement cost optimization strategies while maintaining performance standards
Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline deployment and operational workflows
Business Systems Track (Option B)
Core Business Development
Develop and maintain user management systems, authentication, and authorization frameworks
Build integrations with marketing automation platforms and operational tools
Create robust APIs for customer onboarding, engagement tracking, and lifecycle management
Implement analytics and reporting systems for business intelligence
Payment & Monetization Platform
Design and develop comprehensive payment processing systems with multiple gateway integrations
Build credit and points management systems with real-time balance tracking
Implement coupon, discount, and promotional campaign management features
Develop membership and subscription management capabilities with automated billing
Ensure PCI compliance and implement fraud detection mechanisms
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field
Minimum 3 years of backend development experience with demonstrated expertise in Golang
Strong understanding of microservices architecture and service orchestration tools (gRPC, Kubernetes)
Proficiency in database design, optimization, and management (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
Hands-on experience with distributed systems, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and caching technologies (Redis)
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices
Strong problem-solving abilities and passion for learning new technologies
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in backend development for AI, ML, or SaaS products
Experience with payment processing systems, financial transactions, or fintech applications
Knowledge of infrastructure monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
Familiarity with security best practices and compliance frameworks
Experience working in international, distributed teams
Contributions to open-source projects or technical community involvement
Experience with performance optimization and large-scale system design
