Job Description
Functionally reports to SR DB Team Lead under Group Infrastructure Platform Services, the Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the uptime, performance and compliance of databases in accordance with the bank standard.
This role will support and collaborate with Design, Change & Engineering team on top with SR Apps and Application teams on database requirements, standards and the use, optimization and troubleshooting of all features in Oracle, MSSQL, MariaDB & its tools.
This role will participate in technical discussions to share ideas and provide feedback in continuing the improvement in areas such as cost savings, technology adoption & operational efficiency.
This role is critical in supporting service recovery, including disaster recovery (DR) testing, environment hardening, and root cause analysis (RCA) of production incidents. Candidates must be willing to participate in a 24×7 on‑call rotation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure database availability, performance & patch compliance in accordance with bank standards
- Provide L1 & L2 database support
- Troubleshooting databases and its tools within strict timelines
- Provide technical support to application development teams
- Evaluate releases of databases and its tools, and third-party products to ensure the entire Database environment is appropriate and compliant with minimal impact.
- Perform Backup & Recovery
- Participate in Disaster Recovery exercise
- Capacity planning
- Define Monitoring / Alert thresholds
- Database resource management
- Database and OS tuning
- Write scripts to manage the databases
- Provide feedback for continuous improvement of the database team
- Project management for SR initiatives
Experience/Skills:
- Degree/Diploma in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent
- At least 5 years of experience in RDBMS administration
- At least 3 years of experience in MSSQL, Oracle & MariaDB administration
- PowerShell & Shell scripting is required
- Excellent knowledge in Database troubleshooting
- Good knowledge in Database Backup
- Experience working in a bank is a plus
- Experience in Sybase & Hadoop is a plus
- Experience with Linux System is a plus
