About the role
We are looking for an AVP, Climate & Infrastructure – Data & Analytics to sit at the intersection of environmental due diligence, climate finance, and technology product innovation. This role bridges technical environmental assessments with digital product development, ensuring that our climate and infrastructure solutions are grounded in robust science and delivered through scalable, user-friendly data systems.
The ideal candidate has strong experience in environmental or social impact assessments, climate metrics, project due diligence, or infrastructure investment, combined with hands-on familiarity with data systems, product thinking, or technology-enabled climate solutions.
Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities
1. Environmental & Climate Due Diligence
• Lead and review impact investment and environmental and social due diligence (ESDD) for infrastructure, renewable energy, and climate-related projects.
• Conduct risk screening, materiality assessments, and performance benchmarking using global standards (IFC PS, ICMA Bond Principles, TCFD, TNFD, ADB Safeguards, World Bank ESS, GCF, etc.).
• Analyse project-level climate metrics (mitigation, resilience, emissions, adaptation, circularity, biodiversity impact).
• Prepare technical reports, red flags, and recommendations to inform investment teams, partners, and clients.
• Engage with external consultants, developers, and stakeholders to validate assumptions and strengthen project quality.
2. Climate Metrics, Data & Analytics
• Develop and refine science-based climate metrics, frameworks, taxonomies, and scoring methodologies for infrastructure and climate products.
• Work with data engineers and analysts to translate environmental insights into structured models, dashboards, and analytics products.
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and alignment with global sustainability frameworks.
• Interpret complex datasets to generate actionable insights for investors, policymakers, and corporate clients.
3. Product Development & Innovation
• Act as the product lead for IIX Platforms, especially climate and infrastructure digital tools (dashboards, scoring engines, due diligence platforms, market intelligence systems).
• Translate due diligence workflows into intuitive digital features, user journeys, and data architecture needs.
• Define product requirements, prioritize backlogs, and collaborate with the tech team (developers, UI/UX, QA) to build and iterate tools.
• Test prototypes, validate user feedback, and drive continuous improvement loops.
4. Strategy, Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement
• Work cross-functionally with investment, research, and technology teams to design end-to-end climate solutions.
• Engage with government partners, financial institutions, DFIs, and private sector players on climate and infrastructure topics.
• Support go-to-market strategies, product positioning, and client readiness materials.
• Represent the organization in climate forums, infrastructure platforms, and technical discussions.
5. Project Management & Delivery
• Lead multi-stakeholder project components from concept to delivery, ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Manage timelines, budgets, consultant inputs, and internal coordination for climate and infrastructure initiatives.
• Ensure documentation and knowledge products are consistently maintained and updated.
Preferred Qualification & Experience:
• 8+ years of experience in environmental due diligence, climate risk assessment, infrastructure evaluation, or related fields.
• Strong knowledge of climate finance, sustainability frameworks, and environmental impact methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience working with data systems or participating in tech product development.
• Ability to translate technical assessments into actionable insights and digital features.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
Nice-to-Have
• Experience in renewable energy, smart infrastructure, nature-based solutions, or low-carbon technologies.
• Worked with engineering firms, DFIs, ratings agencies, ESG platforms, or development institutions.
• Familiarity with SQL, Python, GIS tools, or analytics platforms (not mandatory but an advantage).
• Product owner/product manager experience.
