Job Description:

  • Responsible for mortality risk appraisal for the High-Net-Worth Business in the Singapore market.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Underwriter, Singapore Branch and Corporate Underwriting Team on cases requiring higher-level authority
  • Drives, in cooperation with the Chief Underwriter, Singapore Branch, development of underwriting strategies consistent with overall enterprise direction and goals
  • Proactively collaborates with the New Business, Inforce, Distribution, and other functional teams in Singapore to deliver robust underwriting decisions and processes aligned with Sun Life’s philosophy and a positive Client experience
  • Manages, builds, and nourishes a proactive, positive, and productive relationship with the Distribution team to ensure all client relationships (advisors, brokers, private banks, etc.) are fostered and the team meets our clients’ high expectations
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of medical research, global underwriting trends, competitive intelligence, claims management, industry developments, an in-depth technical knowledge for medical and financial underwriting practices, clinical testing, and current medical procedures, to provide best in class risk selection for our Clients
  • Sustains a Culture of Compliance supporting a thorough and robust Client Due Diligence process including clear case documentation
  • Takes on projects related to streamlining and enhancement of current underwriting processes, updating of UW guidelines, system enhancements, preparation of reports and other underwriting support functions
  • Conducts and assists with research on industry benchmarks, process improvements, and implements actions and initiatives to achieve the highest level of Client service standards
