With a presence in over 30 countries, BGA staff provide bespoke services to clients across the region. We seek a talented, highly motivated Associate/Senior Associate in our Technology Team, based in Singapore.

The candidate should be motivated to help the world’s premier companies understand Asia and Africa, find alignment with customers, communities and key stakeholders by considering the ideas and capabilities of top-tier companies that want to invest. This position will report to the Director, Technology, based in Singapore.

Position Responsibilities 

The Associate/Senior Associate on BowerGroupAsia’s Technology Team plays an integral role in a dynamic, fast-paced, and expanding client-facing practice. BowerGroupAsia engages with the world’s leading technology companies and organizations to deliver strategic advisory services that advance their business and policy priorities. The Associate/Senior Associate will be responsible for analyzing key technology and policy developments across the Indo-Pacific region, while supporting client project management through the development of strong, trusted relationships with clients and BGA colleagues worldwide. This includes ensuring clear and consistent communication, contributing to the design and delivery of high-quality advisory services, and producing research, reports, and insights that reflect BGA’s standard of excellence.


Working closely with a team of technology professionals and BGA leadership, the Associate/Senior Associate will help manage and grow client relationships, contribute to thought leadership on regional and Singapore technology policies, and support business development initiatives. Together with a team of technology professionals and BGA leadership, associates support the management and growth of our client relationships and deliver services that exceed expectations. This is a fast-paced and demanding role which requires high EQ, strong research and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, initiative, innate curiosity and the ability to foster collaboration while translating information into action on deadlines across the BGA enterprise.



Project Management:

  • Manage client deliverables and ensure alignment across the BGA enterprise in support of client objectives.
  • Lead project management and regional analytical or consulting projects. This would entail:
    • Developing and maintaining a detailed understanding of each client workstream and the accompanying scope of work.
    • Ensuring colleagues are fully informed of project scopes, timelines, and KPIs.
    • Reviewing, refining, and providing feedback on regional client deliverables, including written memos and reports, presentations, stakeholder maps, and in-person or virtual briefings.
    • Gathering feedback from client stakeholders and sharing insights with relevant country teams and analysts.
    • Identify opportunities for business growth and assess potential risks to client renewals.
  • Coordinate with Technology Team members, and across teams throughout BGA, including:
    • Structuring client interactions effectively by setting clear objectives and agendas in advance.
    • Facilitating internal communication prior to client meetings to align messaging and delivery.
    • Scheduling, joining, and leading client meetings and conference calls as appropriate.
    • Recording meeting outcomes, sharing summaries and action items with relevant team members, and communicating follow-up actions clearly.
    • Tracking interaction with clients, ensuring that engagement is logged, contacts are updated and follow-ups are clearly communicated.
  • As needed, develop client deliverables focused on Singapore, in line with the scope of work and client expectations.



Client Engagement:

  • Develop a deep understanding of clients’ business models, priorities, and the challenges and opportunities they face in Singapore and the broader region.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with clients, decision-makers, executives, and key technology stakeholders.
  • Establish strong client rapport by demonstrating insight into their organizations, needs, and success drivers.
  • Manage BGA’s communications with clients directly and by facilitating interactions with BGA’s regional experts and senior leadership, including preparing read-aheads/talking points for senior members of the team and BGA leadership for client interactions.

 

Policy Analysis and Thought Leadership:

  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret landmark legislation and regulations on critical technology issues in key markets, including Singapore.
  • Develop a deep understanding of technology trends, developments, and challenges shaping policymaking at both global and regional levels.
  • Draft, review, and edit BGA written products, including client deliverables, topical memos, news flashes, and the Indo-Pacific Forecast.
  • Represent BGA at industry events and support the organization of thought leadership activities, such as roundtables and webinars, to share insights on significant technology developments and policies.

 

Business Development:

  • Utilize sectoral expertise and understanding of policy and industry trends to engage potential clients.
  • Establish trusting relationships with external stakeholders, including government officials, industry organizations, media, and the private sector.
  • Manage, update and expand the internal client and prospective client database promptly and help flag important developments and drive awareness for the relevant team members.
  • Understand market dynamics and industry developments by tracking company earnings reports and announcements, industry reports and economic conditions.
  • Conduct well-written, organized and thoughtful research on assigned clients and sectors using media coverage, relevant trends and events to inform client engagements.
  • Contribute to marketing, analytics, opportunity development and prepare sales pitches, in conjunction with other members of both the Singapore and the Technology Teams.



Job Requirements

The associate/senior associate combines policy analysis and client project management with the skills and responsibilities required for internal coordination and management. The ideal candidate can work independently with minor supervision and collaborate effectively as a team player in high-pressure situations. S/he can effectively manage multiple work streams while meeting deadlines and should be highly self-motivated, well organized, detail-oriented and collegial. S/he should feel comfortable interacting with a range of interlocutors and should enjoy the various challenges of supporting large multinational corporations operating in the Indo-Pacific and Africa. The ability to interact effectively both inside the company and externally, in a fast-paced environment, while remaining flexible, proactive and efficient, is crucial to this role. 


 Qualifications Include:

  • A keen understanding of the geopolitical and regulatory environment in both Singapore and the region and how to navigate it on behalf of clients is required. 
  • Demonstrated experience in and passion for information and communications technology (ICT), or closely related fields.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in fluent English; proficiency in an Asian language is a strong plus.  
  • Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree; graduate degree in business, public policy, public affairs, international affairs, journalism, or related fields is preferred.
  • 4-6 years of experience in government, multinational corporations, journalism, and/or consulting relevant to Singapore is strongly preferred.
  • Aptitude for public speaking and project presentations, and engaging confidently and thoughtfully with corporate representatives of various levels, civil society and the media. 
  • Superb and self-confident interpersonal skills, including with international counterparts. 
  • Proficiency in MS Office and basic internet applications is required, as is enthusiasm and the ability to learn and adopt new technologies.
