WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Employment Counsel will provide day-to-day support to Revantage and Blackstone portfolio company HR Business Partners, CHROs, and other key stakeholders on all matters concerning employment law, employee policies and compliance, and compensation programs.  This role will be expected to provide superior legal guidance on many sensitive HR matters in-house, and also will work with trusted outside counsel in areas where specialist support is advisable.  It will be essential for the person in this role to possess deep knowledge of employment law, excellent business judgment, discretion, and an ability to identify and communicate risk in a clear and concise manner. This position can be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Dallas, TX offices.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • Deliver high quality and clear legal guidance on all employment and HR matters

  • Develop strong relationships with HR stakeholders at Revantage, Blackstone and our supported portfolio companies

  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on offer letters, employment agreements, separation agreements, and other employment documentation

  • Review and revise existing company employee policies and procedures

  • Support ongoing administration and implementation of employee policies and procedures

  • Supervise outside counsel, when necessary or appropriate, and assume responsibility for quality and cost of outside legal representation

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) and actively licensed to practice in Illinois or Texas

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in law firm or in-house legal department

  • Be a resourceful self-starter, routinely taking initiative

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to a variety of audiences

  • Exceptional attention to detail

  • Team player that can thrive and lead in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment

  • Adept in navigating and simplifying complex matters of law

  • Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word, and email applications

Base Compensation Range:

$175,000.00 To $225,000.00. This represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company’s base compensation range for this position. Actual base compensation range may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.

Total Direct Compensation:  This job is also eligible for discretionary bonus and incentive compensation on an annual basis.

Benefits:  The Company provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
