What you will do

The Associate Business Manager role contributes to the company’s objectives with accountability for managing the Foodstuffs North Island and South Island businesses.  The ABM creates annual business plans & strategies for growth aligned to the NZ Consumer Health roadmap.  It involves day-to-day management of account relationships, critical key stakeholder development at customer level from inventory/buying level through to top-to-top engagement.

The role also forms part of the New Zealand Sales Leadership Team and supports shaping the NZ Team Performance Culture and Ways of Working practices.

The role also has accountability to manage, coach & lead 2 direct reports: Key Account Manager Foodstuffs and a Vendor Managed inventory (VMI).

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Customer meetings – general business update, category reviews, T2T​
  • Day to day management of multiple customer requests
    • Analysis of Account and Category Performance
    • Pitching and Negotiating Growth Opportunities
  • Customer Activity project management (NPI, Promo) – Internally & Externally
    • Delivering Perfect Store and RGM initiatives
    • Coordination with the Field Sales Operations Team
  • Promotional planning & Forecasting & Accounting
    • Management of Promotional Budgets
    • Alignment with VMI role and Customer for adequate Stock and Demand Planning
    • Invoice/Claims Management
    • Management of all internal reporting
  • Team Management & Organisational Leadership
    • Management of 2 Direct Reports with weekly, monthly working rhythms
    • Performance & Development Management

What we are looking for

  • 3+ years experience in FMCG account management
  • Experience within any mayor grocery retailer is highly desired
  • Strong Analytic Skills
  • Solid understanding of category management & shopper principles
  • Strong financial literacy including the ability to work with P&Ls effectively
  • Intermediate level in software systems Excel & PowerPoint
  • Strong presentation, negotiation and selling skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
