Role Summary
Sitting in the Global Markets Group within the International division, the Innovation Brand Manager will be responsible for contributing to the development of innovation ideas within the Global Markets Group. The Assistant Innovation Brand Manager will accomplish these objectives through close partnership with Church & Dwight Global Markets commercial sales team, distributors, international marketing, GMS and R&D team. A vital member of the APAC Marketing team, he/she will be fully responsible for shaping the global innovation strategy, identifying new consumer opportunities, developing and testing consumer concepts and building business case with distributors and the commercial team
Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Innovation Strategy & Ideation:
Supports the GMG APAC commercial team in identifying new, emerging and G2G opportunities across our portfolio of brands within the markets. This extends across our Household, Personal Care as well as OTC & Devices portfolio.
Consolidate and own the APAC innovation 5-year innovation road map and organize innovation ideation forums as needed.
Partners with GMS team and our contract manufacture (CM) to understand existing CM capabilities and translating those CM capabilities into new business opportunities for the APAC business (i.e., packaging ideas, formulation, formats) that is in line with the consumer needs.
Stay informed about category trends and advancements and assist in formulating future development trends.
Analyzes category trend, competitive deep dive which could extend into portfolio analysis on claims, pricing, channel, and pack size strategy to drive business revenue and profitability. Thereafter providing recommendation on suitable innovation and/or renovation ideas to drive new business opportunities.
Develop strong innovation concepts and qualifying these concepts to determine overall appeal, differentiation, and purchase intent. Runs volumetric test to determine volumes and business case.
Consolidating innovation ideas and share innovation opportunities and business case to key stakeholders including APAC Sales & Marketing, distributors, International Marketing and GMS team. Thereafter partnering with the Sales to obtain distributor buy-in to drive incremental sales for the business.
Innovation Implementation:
Kickstart the innovation by implementing Vetting & Charter process
Work with key stakeholders Global/ Regional Marketing, R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Packaging, Finance, Legal, GMS, Project Manager to roll-out innovation meetings and ensure on-time-in-full delivery.
Performs risk assessment to minimize project risks and provide solutions to manage impact to launches.
Partner with Global & Regional Marketing team and distributors to develop the packaging brief and execute packaging development.
Partner with Regional Marketing in communication toolkit development and roll-out.
Supports the roll-out of innovation with our distributors in-market to ensure strong sell-in.
Track ROI measurements for all marketing activities & NPDs to determine performance vs planned goals.
Ensures all projects are managed on time and within budget.
Education and Experience
Educated to MBA or BBA
They will have had at least 6-8 years of hands-on end to end innovation management experience in FMCG as part of a Marketing team.
A strong international marketing innovation background, he/she would have successfully identified big consumer opportunities, developed consumer insight-driven concepts, and developed and launched outstanding new products across markets.
Skills and Competencies
Incumbent would have led ideation and concept development sessions with multi-functional teams and built innovation and renovation business cases.
A self-starter who can mobilize and inspire teams, the incumbent will have the ability to think out of the box.
He/she will be an exemplary team player with the ability to influence teams in difficult circumstances.
He/she will have strong commercial acumen and the ability to translate innovation ideas into business plans and launches.
Strong project management skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.
