Supports product control for Asia equities derivatives by preparing daily risk and P&L reports, managing balance sheet and month-end close procedures, analyzing financial data, monitoring risk metrics, strengthening controls, and coordinating front- and back-office teams to resolve reporting issues. The role also provides project support, process improvement, and ad hoc analysis for trading desks, risk managers, business managers, and senior finance leaders.
As an Equities Derivatives Group (EDG) Product Controller – Analyst within the Product Control team, you will support financial controllers and trading desks to ensure accurate risk, Profit & Loss, balance sheet, and month-end close procedures. You will assist with daily risk and Profit & Loss reporting, provide detailed financial analysis, and coordinate with various front and back office support functions. Your role will involve promoting risk, profit, and loss accuracy, ensuring precise balance sheet management, and streamlining month-end close procedures. This position offers the opportunity to develop strong working relationships and enhance your analytical skills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily risk, P&L reporting and month-end close processes
- Understand key risk measures (such as Greeks) and risk metrics (such as VaR and Stress)
- Provide detailed analysis and reporting on the risk and financials to desk heads, risk managers, business managers, and senior finance management
- Partner with the business to drive forth and implement robust controls and new business initiatives
- Drive coordination across various front & back office support functions to ensure resolution of control and reporting issues in an accurate and timely manner
- Serve as an analytical and project support resource for product control
- Handle various ad-hoc requests on a daily basis
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within Product Control, Financial Control, Accounting, or related area
- Experience doing P&L and month end close process
- Solid understanding of financial products including derivatives
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related area
- Ability and drive to improve current processes and achieve efficiencies
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail including a strong control focus
- Self-motivated and comfortable working with large amounts of data
- Excellent communication skills and ability to develop strong working relationships
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Understanding of tools such as Alteryx/Tableau
- Solid understanding of financial products would be advantageous
- Knowledge of market risk metrics and financial products is required, knowledge on equity derivatives is a plus
