Position: Applications Database Administrator
Job Description
The Applications DBA will be responsible for SQL, PLSQL development, basic database administration and application support. Apps DBA will be required to assist application team on databases system implementation using SQL&PLSQL scripts, setup, maintenance, support and troubleshooting application database related issue for clients.
To provide effective and efficient delivery of database application development projects, services, and basic database administration support to customers. PL/SQL programs development/support and Shell Scripting.
Primary Responsibilities
- Understand the clients’ requirements and provide solutions for data extraction, transformation, and loading/reporting (ETL and reporting).
- Create database objects (tables, indexes, etc.)
- Write database procedures, functions, and triggers in PL/SQL
- Assist developers with database activities.
- Support database system resource such as storage, CPU & memory upgrades.
- Analyze and tune database queries to improve the query performance.
- Assist application team to troubleshoot application/database related issues. Manage and coordinate with vendors to provide database support for the customers.
- Coordinating with customers and application project managers for database application implementation and setup as per application requirements.
- Responsible to plan, schedule, track and coordinate with project manager, application support for database system version upgrade and database server patches.
- Assist application team to troubleshoot application/database related issues. Manage and coordinate with vendors to provide database support for the customers.
- Provide SIT, UAT and Production database application installation, setup and support.
- Responsible to provide basic Oracle Database administration (user management, granting roles/privileges, revoking roles/privileges, scheduling/monitoring database jobs, export/import using datapump, SQL performance tuning and Database security)
- Create, document, and implement standards and/or complex modelling to monitor and enhance the capacity and performance of the database.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in PL/SQL development.
- Ability to coordinate with customer, application project managers & vendors on database infrastructure setup and installation.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and a commitment to maintain optimum database system availability for customer.
- Strong customer focus with emphasis on commitment to continuous improvement in database system availability and performance.
- Hands-on experience in Unix shell scripting.
- 3+ years’ basic database administration experience of Oracle RDBMS (user management, granting roles/privileges, revoking roles/privileges, scheduling/monitoring database jobs, export/import using datapump, SQL performance tuning and Database security/hardening) & support on Solaris/Unix/Linux environment.
- Experiences on Oracle databases troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Experience on database security hardening, monitoring, capacity planning, Knowledge on managing Oracle Goldengate & MS SQL Servers will be an advantage.
