Role

We are seeking an experienced capital markets reporter to expand our APAC coverage of private credit and primary HY yield bond issuances. The role — in Hong Kong, Singapore or Australia (Sydney) — requires producing deal scoops and market trends stories, working with our existing region-wide team of journalists, credit analysts and data specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Editorial Impact: Break high-impact, exclusive stories on leveraged financing, especially private credit – such as for financial sponsor-backed acquisitions, real estate and rescue/growth – as well as USD/EUR high-yield bond issuances.
  • Strategic Market Intelligence: Maintain a pulse on APAC market trends, major fund movements, and key personnel changes to inform our editorial strategy.
  • Collaborative Analysis: Work in lockstep with our data specialist as well as our credit and legal analysts to translate technical financial data into accessible, "must-read" long-form content.
  • Source Development: Actively build and nurture a high-level network of contacts within the investment and legal communities to ensure a consistent pipeline of scoops.
  • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent Octus as a subject matter expert at industry conferences, webinars, and panel discussions to bolster our authority in the region.
Candidate Profile & Qualifications
  • Journalistic Excellence: Proven track record in financial journalism with a deep specialization in capital markets, ideally private credit and or/HY bonds.
  • Technical Literacy: Strong command of the financial mechanisms underpinning private credit, syndicated loans, bonds, and distressed debt restructurings.
  • Editorial Precision: A "scoop-first" mindset, strong writing skills and an uncompromising attention to accuracy.
  • Agility & Collaboration: A self-starter with effective interpersonal skills capable of navigating a fast-paced environment, sophisticated financial sources and AI.
What We Offer
  • Professional Growth: Access to specialist financial training to sharpen your domain expertise.
  • Travel & Industry Presence: Support to attend and participate in major industry conferences and events to build your profile and our network.
  • High-Performance Culture: A collaborative, analyst-driven editorial environment where your work directly shapes the market narrative.
