About the team

The Communications team builds and protects Stripe’s reputation and influence across the world. We’re looking for someone to join our world-class communications team to lead our communications as we grow our Greater China and cross-border business across the Asia Pacific region.

We’re looking for people who have a knack for positioning Stripe as a partner to entrepreneurs building the future; who have an unusually long-term mindset when it comes to business and success; and who’re obsessed with the kind of craft and beauty that builds trust with users and potential Stripes. 

What you’ll do

You will lead Stripe’s communications strategy for our Greater China region, as well as work on APAC and global initiatives. This is an important job with room to build things from the ground up, while working closely with our executives, product, sales, partnerships, marketing and policy colleagues around the world.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on. They’re creative and pragmatic. They have strong media relationships and bring creative campaign ideas to reach our audiences across the Greater China region. They have a good understanding of global issues and trends. They can translate product specifications into powerful stories to help our key audiences understand what Stripe is building and why it matters. 

  • Develop and execute creative, high-engagement communications initiatives that build our reputation for cross-border commerce to audiences within the Greater China region, APAC and globally.
  • Advocate Stripe’s point-of-view on industry topics, growing our profile as a thought leader among relevant stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Stripe users and partners to infuse their voices into campaigns, news announcements, and other activities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with reporters, users, influencers and opinion formers.
  • Work in close partnership with the APAC and global Comms team, local and regional cross-functional leaders (including Go To Market, Policy, Marketing, among others), as well as agencies.
Who you are

 Minimum requirements:

  • Stellar written and verbal communication skills; in particular, an ability to understand, synthesize, and articulate complex and technically sophisticated topics, preferably in B2B technology, in a high-growth and/or financial services environment. 
  • Given the focus on the Greater China region, and that you will need to bring creative campaign ideas to reach our audiences across the Greater China region, proficiency in written and spoken Chinese (simplified) is necessary.
  • 10+ years of relevant working experience in communications.
  • Curiosity, taste and creativity.
  • A strong track record building high-engagement communications campaigns from scratch.
  • Experience collaborating effectively with policy, sales, marketing, data science colleagues, and senior leaders. 
  • Experience developing relationships with key business and technology reporters and other influencers.
  • A good understanding of social media, and how to engage influential stakeholders online through creative campaigns.  
Preferred qualifications:
  • A demonstrable track record managing multiple markets and projects as well as internal and external stakeholders is a definite plus.
