Job Description

The Financial Analyst  is responsible for delivering financial services that support the Marketing business. As part of the Finance Services team, this role collaborates with stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize the Invoice to Pay (ITP) and Invoice to Cash (ITC) processes, ensuring access to accurate business and financial information.

 

  • Manage Finance operations for ITP and ITC, overseeing payments, invoice management, and transaction recording within financial controls and accounting policies
  • Support month-end close activities, financial reporting processes, resolution of audit and tax related issues 
  • Collaborate with Risk, Group Shared Services, and the Finance team to implement robust controls and document key processes in line with UKCR and JSE requirements
  • Design and optimize processes to communicate transaction information, ensuring adherence to workflow controls and minimizing manual intervention
  • Monitor ITP and ITC processes for issues, proactively resolving them and communicating payment statuses to stakeholders.
  • Support data capture through ITP and ITC processes for commercial decisions and new business initiatives, executing transactions in relevant systems
  • Anticipate information needs to maximize business value, designing processes to capture expanded data streams for analysis.
  • Enhance forecasting models to improve Marketing’s capability and support strategy, shifting from deterministic to probabilistic modeling
  • Assist with assurance and controls-related sampling as needed
  • Implement technologies with IM to improve control, increase available information, and automate transactional activities, minimizing manual processes
  • Establish processes for defining user needs and managing UAT for new systems, ensuring proper accounting logic and financial controls
  • Measure and manage team performance through system reports and customer surveys, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Optimize links between SAP, Aspect/Veslink, and other systems for timely information availability
  • Streamline data input and extraction processes while driving standardization and automation of operations
  • Engage in learning and process improvement initiatives proactively

Qualifications

Qualifications Section

Degree in Business or Finance

Desirable: CA, CFP, CFA qualification

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years of relevant experience

Technical knowledge(experience) required for role:

  • Experience in commodity marketing / commercial analysis within a large organisation
  • Good understanding of mining and/or extractive industries
  • Understanding of commodity trading would be beneficial
  • Competent across the range of tools and frameworks of strategic and financial analysis and project management
