The new hub in Singapore is at the forefront of this transformation, driving AI-led innovation and enabling us to scale intelligent solutions for customers across the world. As we make this transition, we’re looking for a Founding AI Engineer based in Singapore who can both build cutting-edge solutions and champion this shift within the company by integrating AI workflows across critical business areas.

Omio is rapidly driving our transformation to being an AI-first company. This touches every aspect of how our products work, how we integrate with our suppliers and how we work internally to optimise our teams for quality delivery at speed.

Sitting within our data architecture and engineering team, this role will take the lead on our internal focus, charting the course and delivering the technology to integrate our many business systems into an integrated whole and providing new agentic workflows to streamline and even completely re-invent our business processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the design and implementation of data models and semantics to drive a scalable, performant platform for AI applications and our internal business processes.

• Contribute to the evolution of our core AI Models in conjunction with our AI Engineering team.

• Establish effective agentic integrations with upstream data providers, including effective prompt engineering and interpretation / disaggregation.

• Collaborate with data scientists, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand analytics requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

• Implement ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources into our data warehouse.

• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior members of the analytics engineering team.

• Stay up to date on industry best practices and emerging technologies in analytics and data engineering.

• Communicate complex technical concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Skills and experience

• Demonstrated experience in implementing AI agents for business productivity and also commercial applications across a range of technologies and use-cases.

• Strong data engineering fundamentals

  • Data engines

  • Data models

  • SQL

  • Pipeline development (e.g. Airflow, dbt)

• Solid understanding of machine learning concepts, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning paradigms, with hands-on experience in enabling them through scalable data and orchestration pipelines.

• Experience integrating LLMs with context retrieval systems (e.g., RAG pipelines using vector databases or semantic search tools).

• Familiarity with open-source AI tools like LangChain, LLM orchestration frameworks, embedding stores, or LLM Ops platforms.

• Strong programming in Python (with libraries like scikit-learn, transformers, LangChain, or Ray RLlib).

• Keen communication skills and the ability to address technical and non-technical audiences.

• 5+ years experience as an Analytics Engineer or related functions

• 2+ years experience working specifically with AI applications.

• Experience in large-scale data processing. You have queried tables with hundreds of Terabytes before and know your way in writing the most effective queries.

• Strong expertise in cloud-based data warehouses like Google BigQuery

• Fluency in English verbal and written skills
