What You'll do
In this role, you will be involved in "abstraction" which involves transforming complex unstructured clinical data, with the help of Flatiron's proprietary software, to create high-quality datasets for oncology research and oncology drug development, to improve the lives of people with cancer.
In addition you will:

  • Be certified as a Flatiron abstractor, through our internal training.
  • Carry out abstraction and maintain a high level of abstraction quality.
  • Help with feasibility and initial testing of novel data points.
  • Provide feedback that will help to develop new abstraction methods in Japan, improve Flatiron's systems / software for abstraction, and improve training for abstraction.
  • Adhere to the local regulations and guidelines to protect patient's personal information, in part by completing up-to-date compliance and data protection courses provided by Flatiron.
  • Work in our Tokyo office (about a 10 minute walk from Shinagawa Station).


Who You Are

  • You have significant experience in oncology, either through professional training as a Registered Nurse, CRA or equivalent experience with Clinical Research in oncology
  • You have strong experience in handling electronic medical records and a variety of clinical / lab data including, risk factors, biomarkers and adverse events in the oncology area.
  • You are familiar with all aspects of how cancer is treated, from diagnosis, staging, treatments, response/outcome assessment, cure / relapse and be fluent in cancer terminology
  • You have strong experience with digital data entry is an advantage and are confident in using or adapting to tools like Slack and other cloud-based software.
  • You have a demonstrated exceptional attention to detail.
  • You are able to read English documents / emails when needed and write simple sentences / emails (business level English not required)

Preferred Primary Location: Tokyo Office
The annual pay range reflected above for this position is based on the preferred primary location of the role which is listed in the job description. Salary ranges for other locations vary from the range reflected above. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. An annual bonus and equity may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
