Your role will provide the hands-on support necessary to evaluate and execute new ventures, investments, and alliances/partnerships.

Caladan Expeditions focuses on the constantly evolving cutting-edge opportunities in the nascent crypto space. From venture capital to market making, from liquidity provisioning to validator services, Expeditions is able to capitalise on the experience, technology, and liquidity of Caladan’s successful prop trading activities. With a focus on the longevity and sustainability of our portfolio and partner companies as well as the industry at large, we invest in pre-seed and seed stage companies, incubating and advising passionate founders during a key period of growth. Our focus is in infrastructure, DeFi, analytics, and security, as this is where our operational background enables us to contribute significantly in advisory and growth with our portfolio companies, not just investment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in refining the deal sourcing and evaluation methodology to drive the senior team’s focus on innovative and attractive investments and/or partnerships
  • Create analyses and materials as needed to communicate recommendations to management and other internal stakeholders
  • Represent Caladan as a key point of contact in meetings with founders and outside stakeholders in potential deals
  • Assist investees with operational and ad hoc projects
  • Support processes and infrastructure to ensure long-term scalability of the investment process
  • Actively network with peers in the crypto and blockchain ecosystem, including through participation in industry events

The Ideal Candidate:

  • University degree in finance, business or a related discipline; proficiency in programming is a plus
  • Transaction experience in investment banking, venture capital, or strategy consulting; entrepreneurial or business development experience is a plus
  • Ability to think through potential business applications of new technologies
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate transaction opportunities based on business and operational risk assessments
  • Entrepreneurial spirit coupled with an ability to work with different stakeholders and manage multiple work streams
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Curiosity and excitement to explore the outer edge of an emerging industry

What we offer:

  • Interns will be expected to work full time (August - December) during the semester (credit bearing internships are allowed)
  • Unique experience and insights into the nuanced cryptocurrency industry as well as access to a network of veteran professionals
  • Future opportunities for roles within our portfolio
