Global data center developer DayOne officially broke ground on its first Singapore data center on Friday. The company’s new facility will span 40,000 square meters and run on 20 megawatts of energy. The first phase of the project is slated to be ready for service by 2026.

Alongside commencing construction, DayOne announced two new partnerships that will help advance the facility. The company signed a 10-year power purchase agreement with Sembcorp Power to fuel the center with renewable energy, and it entered into an R&D partnership with the National University of Singapore to enhance innovation as part of a sustainability initiative.

“This facility marks our commitment to Singapore as both home base and regional hub while highlighting our long-term vision to power Southeast Asia’s digital transformation with green infrastructure,” Jamie Khoo, CEO of DayOne Data Centers, said in a statement. “Our SG1 facility is an important milestone and a contribution to the nation’s ambition of being an Al-ready, sustainable digital economy. Backed by strong public-private collaboration, we’re building infrastructure that is purpose-built for Al workloads, cloud computing and innovation.”
